There were three threads applied, you can see the one in the center. The was a heavy layer of adheasive applied and alloweed to dry over entire spine of book. Notice the brown paper curled up at bottom of photo, Little or no adheasive was applied here. This photo was taken after adheasive was dried.

This requires action on our part, which, when completed, will mean that we have admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being, the exact nature of our defects. Pg. 72 Bigbook

Adheasive was applied to the leading edge of brown paper and weight was applied until dry. Notice that care was taken to not allow excessive adheasive to leak out on exterior of book. The end product of this repair turned out almost invisable to the untrained eye and put back into circulation for the next person to find the message  hidden inside. Notice our fancy weights.
